Trang An Boat Closures in 2026
Is the Trang An boat running? Every 2026 closure with its date: route 3 in July, storm Narra in August, the September floods, and what is known up to 1 November 2026.
The Trang An tourism area stopped its boats on 17 September 2026 during the floods, after heavy rain raised the water in the caves. Reports dated 20 September have them reopened from 13:00 on one temporary route: wharf, Den Trinh, Nui Ngoc, Hanh Cung Vu Lam, Thuy Dinh, back, “until further notice”. We found no notice restoring routes 1, 2 and 3 up to 1 November 2026. Guests of the day tours describe the boat ride in reviews dated 20 to 31 October 2026. Ask the operator which route runs on your date.
The calendar above is the day from Hanoi with the Trang An boat, from $52 in current promotion (usually $57) a person (checked November 2026), with free cancellation up to 24 hours before.

Since 17 September
Thuong hieu & Cong luan’s report of the tourism department’s 17 September update said that once the water fell and the weather settled, each site and route would be inspected before it reopened to visitors. The reopening followed on 20 September: the area took guests again from 13:00, on one temporary route (wharf, Den Trinh, Nui Ngoc, Hanh Cung Vu Lam, Thuy Dinh, back) applied “until further notice”, the same route the tourism department had listed from 16 September. We read that on a Hoa Lu guesthouse’s page relaying the update; we could not open the area’s own notice. We found no notice restoring routes 1, 2 and 3 up to 1 November 2026.
Guests’ reviews on GetYourGuide of day tours to Ninh Binh, dated 20 to 31 October 2026, describe the boat ride at Trang An: “a peaceful boat ride in Trang An” on 20 October, “took a boat trip on Trang An” on 21 October, and many more on the hero tour in the last week of October. They do not say which route.
Treat that as the state of the evidence, not a promise. Book a day with free cancellation, and ask the operator, or the Trang An tourism area on 0229 3620 335 (the number Ninh Binh’s tourism promotion centre lists), which route the boats take on your date.

Tam Coc in the same weeks
Tam Coc, 9.8 km away by road, did not stop on 17 September: it ran its boat to Hang Ca and the mouth of Hang Hai and back, without Hang Ba, and stopped the electric car to Bich Dong. On 24 August Hang Ba had been paused from 8:00. If Trang An is closed on your day, Trang An or Tam Coc compares the two, and Amazing VietNam tour’s day with a choice of boat lets you pick Tam Coc when you book.
Why the boats stop
The routes run through caves at water level. When rain raises the water inside the caves above a safe level, the board closes the routes that pass them, as it did for route 3 on 31 July, and reopens them once the water is back down, as it did on 2 August. The wettest months on the long-term record for Ninh Binh are August and September (when to go).
